Random Update

So, apparently I stink at doing updates. I promised one almost 3 weeks ago and still have yet to post anything. So I'll remedy that now. :o)
Rui and I had our tour of the birthing center at Strong yesterday. It's really nice, the rooms are extremely spacious (by hospital standards) and there are whirlpool tub in every room (sweet). The only thing we didn't get to see were babies in the nursery, since they were all probably with their mothers. That's okay though, becuase I'm totally going to sneak back in to see them after visiting my mom at work someday.
Lily is growing strong. Since my last post my weight has skyrocketed. I have gained a net of 9lbs, and including the 8lbs lost (and now regained) during the first trimester, I've gained a total of 17lbs! I'm still in the normal range though, since you are supposed to gain between 25-30lbs, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Only 3.4 of the total 17lbs is actually me, the rest is baby (who is now approximately 1.25lbs!) and the various 'baby support systems' (ie placenta, amniotic fluid, increased blood volume, etc).
The rapid weight gain might has something to do with my nonstop hunger lately. My brain no longer tells me to stop eating, and even when my stomach physically full I don't get that "okay, i'm full" feeling. Unless I eat that much or more, I can expect to get hunger pangs within about 3 hours, usually less. No weird cravings yet. Mine are just more like leanings towards types of foods, or salty vs. sweet, and that type of thing. However, if I don't eat what it is that I'm leaning towards I'm completely unsatisfied, and my hunger gets worse instead of being relieved.
Lily is one hell of a mover, and kicker. She moves around constantly throughout the day, althought is most active right when I wake up (now around 8-ish because of my lovely morning hunger wake-up call), mid-day/early afternoon, around 7 at night, then again at around 12 midnight. She also learned a really neat trick where if there is something pressing up against her - like lets say for instance, my bladder - she'll kick/punch at it, making for interesting results.
It never ceases to amazing and entertain me every time I feel her kick or move. I feel a lot more on the inside, but whenever I do feel her with my hand brings smile to my face. That ususally follows with me grabbing Rui's hand, so he can feel her too. The other day he and I were laying down, watching a tv show, and I had my belly up against his lowerback/bum area and Lily kicked so hard he felt the actual kick and my belly move through his pj pants. Not even born yet, and already she's kicking ass. :-)
We are offically registered now, at Babies 'R Us (of course), and Target. Target was chosen because besides them being everywhere, it allowed us to pick some household items that aren't strickly baby related but still needed or would be nice to have (like a humidifier/dehumidifer, fan/air purifier, random cookware, etc). You can look at them online, or print them out in both stores. When searching for our registry, you can use either my name or Rui's (for babies 'r us, it's going to come back without results for Rui, then click the 'search co-registrants' link to find it)

Hand-me-downs are welcome and appreciated! We don't need everything new. If you have toys, baby clothes, furniture, travel gear, or anything really in good condition, we'd greatly appreciate it in place of something brand new. The only exceptions being cribs built before 2000, infant carriers/carseats - because safety standards changed or are constandly changing - and crib mattresses.

I am so excited for you. You and Rui are going to be awesome parents and althought Lily doesn't know it yet she's lucky to have you guys...
